What is Citation Share?
Citation share is the percentage of AI-generated answers, across a fixed set of prompts and platforms, in which a brand is cited or named as a source. It is the core metric of generative engine optimization, usually reported alongside citation order (where in the list the brand appears) and recommendation rate (whether the assistant suggests the brand rather than merely listing it).
