HeyGen made it possible for me to scale my own agency to seven figures. I've saved 700-plus hours. That's weeks. I get an idea, I pop it in with my workflow, and I can do it within less than 10 minutes.

I'm Bryan Fikes, the chief gardener, founder of Bonsai Marketing. Bonsai Marketing is a bespoke marketing agency that focuses on the big picture for our clients. It's really honing in on how they're managing their leads. What kind of CRM are they using? Do they own their data? What's their five-year plan? Do they want to sell?

Everything's a story. Everything. I don't care what you're selling, I don't care what you do, and video is the natural storyteller. To do an effective 60-second promotion video back in the day easily cost $1,500 to $2,000 for a business owner. HeyGen is the model where I know going in how much my 15 seconds is going to cost, and it doesn't leave me with the question mark of how much more this is going to cost to get done.

Along with the entire Bonsai brain ecosystem, HeyGen has allowed me to exponentially grow my voice and my clients' communication, to a point where it doesn't take weeks and months, it takes hours.

HeyGen is my AI video platform that I'm using not only for training videos, but for promotional videos. I've got a really cool client that's launching a huge California-based training facility, and HeyGen is absolutely part of the solution in helping educate the students. That delivery model would have cost thousands. It would almost have been cost-prohibitive, because we're literally talking about 200-something modules that he's got to educate on. Video not only gives the student a high-quality deliverable, it also helps them retain the information better.

On the promotion side, I've got roofers and electricians and attorneys that have distinct messaging. They have distinct offerings. They've got unique selling propositions, as you would say. HeyGen has become a vital piece in helping me carve that.

HeyGen has become my video partner. You'll hear me talk about Bodhi. Bodhi is my AI agent. HeyGen is my video agent, and will continue to be. For me personally, I've been using HeyGen for my own business in all social channels, and I'm starting to use it in business channels.

The advancement for Bonsai and for me is that I've been able to literally create an advisor. Bodhi Advisor is my newest launch, because I've realized that so many business owners have these $5 million companies, but they don't understand anything about this new AI. It took them 15 years to learn search engine optimization, and now you're going to throw in AI, and they've got no clue what to do.

I had that aha moment a few months ago: something's got to train them in an area where they don't feel the messaging is biased, because they're not necessarily going to type it into an AI platform or a search engine and do that research. So I wanted to create a two-way communication, HeyGen with the live avatar, creating an experience where they can ask any question they want, pick my brain essentially with Bodhi, and get the answers they want, to the point where they feel comfortable actually calling an agency like me. If they call me, great. If they call another one, but they've been educated by that process, so be it. It's a win-win.

At one point when I was looking at my reach, I think I'm close to 350,000-plus people that I'm reaching at any given time with some of my messaging. And then there's the continual growth of plugging in clients. I've got clients who were getting five views, 10 views, 15 views. Now we're talking thousands of views. That's a potential customer. That's someone that's going to buy their product or service. Without a doubt, the value is in being able to not only measure that growth, but then being able to repeat it.

Using traditional production, if you had to look at the actual value, depending on what type of video, you're easily in the $75,000 to $200,000-plus range. If you take some of the super-high-quality cinematic stuff that's coming out, you're talking thousands of dollars per minute that HeyGen is saving.

Because of HeyGen, the quality of lead that I get, which is vital for me because I don't want to work with everybody... my messaging allows them to get enough of the story of what they're going to get when they contact me. So for me personally, my conversions are through the roof when I actually have that conversation. And as I've started to plug this into my clients and what they're delivering, every single client that I've plugged this into correctly is seeing increased conversion. I would say without a doubt HeyGen has at least doubled, if not tripled, the success my clients are having with conversion.

HeyGen has become a tool where I can comfortably say, "Hey, go check this out," because the user interface and the user experience are at a point that no matter what level, whether you're a solopreneur, an individual, the massage studio, the acupuncturist, the hair stylist, there's a place for the HeyGen video platform to help them solve and tell their stories.

On a high-level note, the way it organizes your projects and the video you're working on is just so easy to fall back to. You go to some of those other platforms and you're clicking into 15 different areas trying to figure out where that five seconds was that they produced for the one clip in the middle of scene five. I want it all in one streamlined user interface that makes it easy for me to pick up, because I'm not going to work on a project from start to finish. With HeyGen, I can just go right back in. I know it's right there. It's so easy to find that project and pick it back up.

After hearing this interview and seeing how I've used it: if you're not using it already, what are you doing?

HeyGen sat down with Bryan Fikes for a customer story on how Bonsai Marketing runs HeyGen as its video agent: training modules, client promos, and Bodhi Advisor, a live avatar business owners can question directly.

01

Everything is a story, whatever you sell, and video is the natural storyteller. HeyGen is how Bonsai tells that story for every client.

02

Bodhi is Bryan's AI agent; HeyGen is his video agent. An idea goes into the workflow and a finished video comes out in under ten minutes, in hours rather than weeks and months.

03

For a California training facility with 200-plus modules to teach, AI video turned a delivery model that would have been close to cost-prohibitive into a high-quality one that also helps students retain the material.

04

Roofers, electricians and attorneys each have distinct offers and unique selling propositions. HeyGen is the piece that carves each one into its own message.

05

Bodhi Advisor pairs a HeyGen live avatar with Bonsai's knowledge in a two-way conversation: a business owner can ask any question, get answers that don't feel like a sales pitch, and arrive at any agency conversation already educated.

06

Clients who were getting five, ten or fifteen views are now reaching thousands, and the value is being able to measure that growth and then repeat it.

HeyGen featured Bryan Fikes in one of its customer stories. The video above was produced and published by HeyGen on YouTube; Bonsai Marketing shares it here with the full transcript.

HeyGen is the video agent

Bonsai runs two agents side by side. Bodhi is the AI agent. HeyGen is the video agent. Together they sit inside what Bryan calls the Bonsai brain ecosystem, and they are why a client video now takes hours instead of weeks.

That shows up in three kinds of work:

  • Training. A client launching a California training facility has more than 200 modules to teach. Video gives every student a high-quality deliverable and helps them retain the material.
  • Promotion. Roofers, electricians and attorneys each have their own offers and selling points, and each gets its own message.
  • Advising. Bodhi Advisor puts a HeyGen live avatar in front of business owners who are trying to make sense of AI, so they can ask anything and get an answer before they talk to an agency.

Why it matters for local businesses

Clients who were getting five, ten or fifteen views are now reaching thousands. Every one of those views is a potential customer, and because the process is measurable, it is repeatable.

Answered.

Who made this video? +

HeyGen produced and published it on their own YouTube channel as a customer story. Bryan Fikes is the featured customer. Bonsai Marketing shares it here in the Digital Dojo with a full transcript.

How does Bonsai Marketing use HeyGen? +

As the video agent alongside Bodhi, the AI agent. It powers Bonsai's own social channels, training videos for a California training facility, promotional videos for service businesses such as roofers, electricians and attorneys, and the live avatar behind Bodhi Advisor.

What is Bodhi Advisor? +

A live interactive avatar built with HeyGen that lets business owners ask any question about marketing in the AI era and get straight answers, so they feel comfortable calling an agency, whether that is Bonsai or someone else.

Is AI video only for larger businesses? +

No. In Bryan's words, whether you are a solopreneur, the massage studio, the acupuncturist or the hair stylist, there is a place for the platform to help you tell your story.

Why does project organization matter in an AI video tool? +

Real client work is not built start to finish in one sitting. HeyGen keeps each project and every scene in one streamlined interface, so Bryan can go straight back in and pick a video up where he left it.
